About NbS Praxis
NbS Praxis stands at the heart of the climate-and-nature nexus, where Nature-based Solutions and Ecosystem-based Adaptation deliver integrated outcomes across climate and biodiversity.
Why NbS Praxis exists
The climate-and-nature integration is no longer a future framing. Climate finance and nature finance are increasingly the same flow of capital, and climate adaptation and ecosystem stewardship are increasingly the same implementation work. The institutional architecture that treats them as separate domains is becoming a hindrance rather than a help. Practitioners who recognize the integration ahead of their peers will matter most over the next decade.
What you will find here
- Advisory engagement brings senior judgment to a specific project or program: structural review of concept notes and funding proposals, theory-of-change design, strategic positioning for accreditation candidates, and tactical advice through preparation and review project cycles.
- Productized toolkits turn preparation experience into working resources for consultants and institutions interested in connecting with international financing institutions, including multilateral development banks and climate funds, and related instruments.
- The weekly briefing, The Climate-Nature Nexus in Practice, gives you the week’s developments verified, sourced, and readable in about 10 minutes.
- The monthly long-form takes one structural question to depth, most recently why coastal protection is financed backward, funding the seawall that depreciates while leaving off the ledger the ecosystem that, under the right conditions, appreciates.
- A Glossary that provides basic information for enthusiastic and junior practitioners (we all started somewhere with the help and support of a mentor). The Glossary is organized by term into a five-section format (Definition, Examples, Rationale, References, and Related Terms) and is up for discussion among us practitioners. The objective will be to strengthen the Glossary together as we go. A typical example: What is EbA? Ecosystem-based Approach or Ecosystem-based Adaptation? I like to hear from you, because I use both depending on the context, but for those who know me, I am not dogmatic!
- YouTube Channel provides a gateway to the climate-and-nature nexus, NbS, and EbA, and further explains and disseminates some of the more difficult concepts summarized in the newsletters. I use Gemini Notebook with short- and long-form audio and short-form video. Feel free to reuse the materials, and I welcome any ideas to strengthen dissemination.
The briefing and the long-form are written for practitioners, who move nature and climate finance from concept to close, investment directors, heads of nature strategy, fund principals, and multilateral teams, and the Glossary and the YouTube channel keep the door open for junior practitioners entering the field.
The practitioner
NbS Praxis was launched in May 2026 by Hubert Jenny, a practitioner with 40+ years of global experience across private-sector development and international financing institutions, evolving from water and sanitation engineering and public-private partnerships, through urban development and environment, into green, climate, and nature finance, using NbS and EbA in projects and programs.
The name. “Praxis” is the Greek word for practice, not practice as repetition, but the embodied application of knowledge, the moment where understanding becomes work. NbS and EbA are the operational expression of the climate-and-nature nexus; NbS Praxis is the doing of that work at the level of practitioner judgment. NbS Praxis deliberately uses AI as a production tool, handling research, brainstorming, and visual production, so practitioner time can focus on the judgment and analysis that distinguish accumulated experience, and fact-check AI outputs to remain the human-in-the-loop.
